Who
Josh Brubaker - I have been designing footwear professionally for the past 22 years. I started designing shoes at a young age, my journey began in 7th grade when I was inspired by my brother’s footwear design job at Vans.
What
I developed most of SUPRA’s iconic shoes, including the Skytop, Vaider, and Stacks, each of which sold millions of pairs. These successes propelled my career forward. After co-founding Clearweather in 2014 and spending the past ten years designing and building the brand, I have now shifted my focus to collaborating with other brands.
Where & Why
To facilitate these collaborations, I started Filmsuede as my personal brand, a vehicle to work closely with artists and brands. Filmsuede is dedicated to crafting quality products that resonate with nostalgia, all while fostering a community of like-minded individuals who share a love for the past. My extensive experience and passion for innovation drive me to create unique and high-quality footwear designs that resonate with both artists and consumers. In addition to my work with Filmsuede, I am focused on legitimate collaborations as a footwear designer with large name footwear brands and artists.
Goals & Process
At Filmsuede, my mission is to build a footwear platform rooted in collaboration with artists and brands. By leveraging direct factory relationships, I personally oversee every aspect of the design and production process to guarantee exceptional quality and craftsmanship. Passionate about composition, Filmsuede pushes the boundaries of design, exploring new shapes and proportions with classic materials to deliver footwear experiences that are both futuristic and timeless.
