What most brands
What most brands
won't tell you.
Before you make a decision, there are a few things worth knowing about how Filmsuede is built that don't make it onto a product page.
Twenty years in this industry taught me what shortcuts look like. We don't take them. Here is what that actually means.
The Difference
01
Full grain napa leather vs everything else.
Most footwear at this price point uses corrected grain leather. The surface has been sanded and coated to hide imperfections. It looks fine in photos but doesn't age well and doesn't breathe. Full grain napa is the hide as it is. It breaks in, develops character, and lasts. Everything Filmsuede makes uses full grain napa on the upper. No exceptions.
02
Why the lining matters.
The lining is what your foot actually touches. Most brands use synthetic lining because it is cheaper and photographs the same. We use lambskin throughout. Softer against the foot, better breathability, and the break in period is shorter because the lining moves with you instead of against you. You feel it the first time you put them on.
03
Small production is a decision.
Filmsuede runs limited quantities by design. Not as a marketing tactic but as a production method. When you make fewer things you make better things. There is no pressure to cut material costs to hit a unit number. Every pair gets the same attention because there are not that many of them.
